The Tomorrow Plan calls for the development of the Regional Infrastructure Coordinating Committee (RICC). Infrastructure coordination has occurred for decades in Greater Des Moines, though it typically has focused on specific infrastructure.
At the same time, adjacent communities in the region often make decisions about land use and zoning without the benefit of coordination with service providers. The creation of the RICC challenges the region to being coordinating across a range of infrastructure types, and to recognize and incorporate the inter-relatedness of infrastructure and land use.
Early discussion topics for the RICC include anticipated growth areas, telecommunications needs, public-private partnerships, and funding.

The RICC meets on a quarterly basis. The group’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 17th.
